Giving to our community

Each year, Ansvar Insurance allocates funds for community education programs aiming to assist young people under the age of 25 to develop a positive attitude to life.   We set aside 10% of after tax profit, averaged over three years to support the next generation of New Zealanders.

Ansvar Insurance was recognised for its outstanding contribution to the community by the Insurance and Finance Industry when it received the 2007 award for Service to the Community.  Ansvar Insurance was again a finalist in this category in 2008 and 2009.

Empowerment and Education
These programs provide proactive opportunities which assist in the development of positive values that lead to healthy lifestyle choices and a positive contribution to our community.

For people delivering the above two programs.

Preference will be given to programs that provide young people with ongoing education and skills which will make significant difference to their lives.

Focus on the Family - How to drug proof your kids
Ansvar Insurance proudly sponsored Focus on the Family and their successful program aimed at drug proofing young children. Thousands of parents have been educated on how to protect their children against the harmful affects of drugs. Launched in New Zealand in 2004 and now operating nationwide, the tremendous success of this program is making a measurable difference with families from all walks of life in New Zealand.

SafeHere Trust                                                                                                             ChildSafe Limited is now represented in New Zealand by the SafeHere Trust, established by Scripture Union to enable churches and other organisations to obtain and use the ChildSafe Safety Management System. The system includes a range of targeted printed resources, as well as ChildSafe Online, a sophisticated web- based management tool that provides assistance with managing the appointment and training of workers, risk management processes, and compliance with standards. ChildSafe Online has been developed with support from Ansvar Insurance. The roots of ChildSafe lie in the safety and care processes within Scripture Union movements in Australia and New Zealand. It was launched in New Zealand, with the support of Ansvar Insurance in May 2008. Further information can be found at www.childsafenz.org.nz

Teen Challenge NZ
Ansvar Insurance proudly supports Teen Challenge New Zealand – a Christian based organisation which started caring for troubled New York youth in 1958. The program now has over 500 Teen Challenge Centres in 90 different countries world wide. Teen Challenge strives to help the ’whole person’, not just the substance abuse. The Teen Challenge approach is to teach a whole new way of living by addressing family relationships, work attitudes, self image, peer pressure, temptation, community relationships and a variety of other life skills.

Alpha New Zealand
The Alpha course has been running for over 26 years. It began at Holy Trinity Brompton in the late 1970's in central London.  It was set-up initially as a means of presenting the basic principles of the Christian faith to new Christians in a relaxed and informal setting. The Youth Alpha Leadership Training program teaches youth leaders how to bring a fresh and creative way of presenting the gospel to young people, whatever their context or background.
